For the past decade, Yah Yah’s has developed the reputation of being one of Melbourne’s most authentic spots for garage rock, soul and rockabilly.
Yah Yah’s is owned and operated by James Young, the man who also blessed Cherry Bar.
This connection has created the exciting option of patrons being connected to both bars via a free shuttle.
Yah Yah’s is open from Thursday to Sunday and is known for its ever-rotating roster of high-quality Australian and international indie acts and DJs.
You can expect to be thrilled by live acts until midnight, after which the night’s DJ takes over and rocks the crowd until the early hours of the morning.
Some live performances are ticketed while others have a cover charge attached.
With its walls painted red and matching scarlet furniture, (not to mention its website declaring the venue "A weekend club for zombies") Yah Yah’s has earned the reputation of being a quirky spot.
In addition to hot bands, the club serves up hot food with its pub menu filled with guilty pleasures like fried chicken, waffle fries and jaffles.
Because it’s located on Smith Street, however, the desire for a more substantial menu can be satisfied with a quick visit to one of the scores of restaurants surrounding Yah Yah’s.
