THESE GUYS ARE GOING TO BE YUGE (Splendour Edition) #004

The glorious day has come, the Splendour in the Grass line up has been announced and it’s huge!

With international artists coming to our North Byron Parklands including favorites Lorde, Kendrick Lamar, Franz Ferdinand, The Wombats and much more it’s going to get wild real quick – our forecast is that this will be one of those festivals you won’t soon forget! Splendour has once again enlisted the help of some of the very best home grown Aussie talent ready to grace the stages throughout the three days, with Sydney legends Gang of Youths prepared to destroy their set and our (not as musically gifted) voices along with favourites Angus and Julia Stone, Ocean Alley, Amy Shark, SKEGSS and so much more.

For those lucky enough to snag a 3/4 day festival ticket already the countdown now begins to the big day in July when madness ensues and dancing carelessly with your mates in the glorious mud becomes a past time we must all get involved. Punters are truly gifted talent on a silver platter this year with all genres from all parts of the world coming together from melodic electronic music, gorgeous female vocalists marking their words in our hearts, politically powered rap artists and all round party starters with the ability to make a flock of music lovers feeling all those lovable festival feels with strangers turned friends beside them.

Our predictions with all these massive acts is that you may crave some down time in between these sets so we’ve placed all those artists who will be well worth your time into a neat little package for y’all.

This is an artist you walk away from thinking about their performance for days to come, he breaks down all barriers between performer and audience with his soulful depth and charismatic care for his artistry. He has a relatable depth for topics we’ve all gone through and does it with a smile, his voice commands attention with raw melodies and smoothing harmonies. Didirri is truly a storyteller and if you’re after a welcomed calm down from all the dancing throughout the day we urge you to grab your mates, take a seat and catch his set, you will not be disappointed.

Who: FANTASTIC MANNext Gig: SPLENDOUR Listen: RA.609 Fantastic Man

This man truly lives up to his stage name, Melbourne artist Mic Newman under the mask of Fantastic Man is a producers dream with his effortlessly crafted tracks creating stream less lines and smooth transitions from dreamy electric sounds to something that makes your booty move! His sound sometimes dips into tribal which is where is international flare is exposed and adored, while his best known for visionary melodic composition and body moving rhythms which will no doubt be showcased. That deadly combination and comfort behind the decks creates the unexpected, with playing at some of the worlds most sought after clubs and festivals his experience speaks for itself and we are sure Splendour is honoured to have him on the line up this year.

Melbourne based duo of Luke and Sam will be hitting the stage at Splendour 2018 with some infectious electronic techno sounds to have you drooling and dancing freely to their heavy beats. The duo dabble in a lot of international work and live mixes throughout the party capitals of the world – with experience in the festival settings and respectively playing at Sugar Mountain Festival, Listen Out and many more these two will be perfect in keeping your energy high and not to be missed LIVE!

Talented and raw describe Alice Ivy, the beatmaker takes risks and with her angelic voice they tend to pay off and with her additional to the Splendour line up the audience agrees. Having recent success on Triple J with her hit Chasing Stars featuring Bertie Blackman she’s sneak her way into our household and pre-drinks playlist – her soul and relatability make you feel like you’re watching and chanting for your best mate and with influence to legends The Avalanches you may want to stick around for this set. Melbourne born Alice is not afraid of some hard work either with her musical output seeing her on a constant tour of not just Australia but international in USA and Singapore along with dropping in to play at Strawberry Fields, Listen Out and NYE on the Hill. Trust us when we say you’ve got to see

Along with an insanely and completely necessary name you can count on these guys for hooky guitar riffs and infectious melodies coupled with the lyrical ability to have you thinking with their insightful views and thoughts including ‘where space comes from’ and the like, mixed with the well known Australian dry humour and wit on these topics. Considering themselves as soft punk/rock with pop influence this sound has seen them make waves overseas particularly within USA where they recently just played at the massive Coachella Music Festival. Now back to make some waves in their own homeland there’s nothing more the boys would raise a shoey to than a packed home crowd.
