HESE GUYS ARE GOING TO BE YUGE #001
There’s nothing better than discovering an artist before they get massive! Everyone starts somewhere and at Giggedin that’s what we love to spread and share with you music lovers. We have some downright extraordinary artists pushing through the ranks this year and in our opinion are soon to be the next big thing within Australian music and abroad.
If you’re craving some new tunes to get you through your daily routine fear not we have some emerging artists all with individual flare, charm and vocal abilities that are beyond dreamy. If Australian music was a glass of your favourite beer we would be over flowing the brim of that cup and still watching the talent trickle down the side with awe.
Here are our selection of artists we’re loving!
Why: Melbourne based artist Kira Purus style is infectious with her criminally catchy and booty moving beats that with her ever present live performances has everyone pulled in from first note. Kira is a very artistic person in general with having experience in photography, diving into the DJ world and more, this passes over into her artistry that is her live performances. She’s fresh, exciting and confident in her style and with inspiration from iconic artists like Grace Jones and The Eurythmics this should give you some idea of her style and the direction of music she wants to put out there. She has featured on many tracks with the likes of Paul Kelly and Urthboy but has finally demanding her position as a thriving solo artist. With her highly praised release of ‘tension’ late last year she’s showing signs of being something special this year.
Who: WILLARIS. K | Next Gig: MEL | Listen: DOUR NIGHTS
Why: This young 23 year old from NSW is showing all electronic lovers how and what fresh, beautiful sounds FEEL like with the ability to grab you into a daze and enjoy each ever present beat, change of direction and thick tone that transports you. There’s a mystery in his music with inspiration from artists Jon Hopkins and Seekae he creates more a journey within a tune that will take you away for those 5 minutes. Recent releases of ‘Dour Night’ has seen Willaris K receive praise and exposure on Triple J and Triple J Unearthed, giving Willaris K the exposure a hardworking young Australian deserves. Uplifting gloom best describes a good portion of his tracks for us and there’s nothing holding this young, talented artist back this year. We recommend to keep your eyes peeled for more from Willaris K in the near future.
Who: TINY LITTLE HOUSES | Next Gig: SYD | Listen: YOU TORE OUT MY HEART
Why: This Melbourne band reminds you of the outkasts in school who loved their music and skated around town with their long out of control hair with no cares in the world. This is the reason we are loving these guys, they’re simply relatable! This indie band even has a song called ‘Milo Tin’ how much more legendary can you bloody get. Their introspective sound and creative lyrics gain a solid following and loved fan base with more purity in their performance than most, we support these guys rising through and representing new sounds. Being an independent band personal experiences are the catalyst and a large source to their creative side of producing each track. The boys have alot of talent and ready to unleash it in 2018.
Who: LOVE DELUXE | Next Gig: SYD | Listen: COOL BREEZE OVER THE MOUNTAINS
Style: Dance, Electronic
Why: Emerging from the Sydney scene is artist Love Deluxe, the smooth electronic sounds make for easy listening and something you’d sway to on a road trip or night together with the mates. It has a nostalgic warm feel to it, with 80s vibes due to the synth work glittering through the tracks and only fitting to have gorgeous people roller skating through parks with an ease on each and every film clip. Love Deluxe has a progressive build of texture to his music, with layered rhythmic sounds and elements, bringing in an individual sound. His single ‘Cool Breeze Over The Mountains’ showcases Love Deluxes’ production talents, along with this if you find him out in our capital cities picking up a DJ set don’t fool yourself – go watch him spin some tracks!
So there you have it, these are just some of our favourite underdog artists ready to break through the very thin layer to becoming the next big thing within Australian music.
