Holy Holy is a musical project that brings together two musicians in two different Cities: Award winning singer songwriter Timothy Carroll from Brisbane and guitarist/producer Oscar Dawson (Ali Barter, Grey Ghost, Dukes of Windsor) in Melbourne. The duo crafted their debut record while living in Stockholm and Berlin in 2011 demoing the tracks in apartments, stairwells and snow covered studios of those two great cities. The pair have since returned to Australia and recorded the full-length record with reclusive producer and collaborator Matt Redlich (Ball Park, Emma Louise, Hungry Kids, Trouble with Templeton). The record covers a wide pallet of sounds with some nods to Neil Young, Midlake, The National and Bright Eyes. It’s lyrical and story based, as much of Carroll’s solo work has been, but also revels in huge, full band builds and crescendos. Lush production abounds, mixing distorted duelling guitars with warm, close harmonies, reverb soaked piano lines and wild percussive rhythms. It is at times epic and at times sparse.
